On September 11, 2025, at approximately 4:45 p.m., Brent Scheiwe, a Science Lab Supervisor at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB), was reportedly summoned by his wife, Kathy Scheiwe, who serves as the Property Manager at Channel Point Apartments (managed by Greystar), located at 5926 Bixby Village Drive, Long Beach, CA 90803. The couple resides on the property, which is situated approximately one block from the CSULB campus.

According to multiple resident accounts, Mr. Scheiwe allegedly confronted and harassed a disabled African-American resident, laughing to himself, howling toward the sky, and recording the individual while making taunting and intimidating gestures.

The resident reportedly asked Mr. Scheiwe several times to stop and warned that a restraining order would be sought if the harassment continued. Despite these repeated requests, Mr. Scheiwe allegedly escalated the incident, making racially charged remarks and physically assaulting the resident and attempted to conseal his name and identity, which was later discovered through an investigation.

Following the altercation, Mr. Scheiwe—invoking his wife’s position as Property Manager and her authority over the property—allegedly called 911 and attempted to file a false police report against the resident.

The targeted resident has previously filed multiple complaints with the California Civil Rights Department, joining other African-American residents who have also reported similar experiences. These complaints are currently under active investigation.
